Pars sign three players

Friday, 22nd May 2015

Three sixteen year olds signed for Dunfermline on Friday. Reece Duncan, Johnny Galloway and Robbie Crawford.

John Potter has worked with all three of them and he told the website:-

"This is a good side of the job, these are three guys that I have worked with for the last couple of years. They are leaving school and we are able to offer them apprenticeships at the club. It is great that the club still wants to support the youth system."

The Pars head coach was at pains to point out how important the youth system had been in terms of providing players at first team level:-

"There are constantly good players coming through; I have worked out that in our first team last season there was an average of five players in the team every game that came through the youth system."

Three new signings join on a two year contract, Potter continued:-

"These guys have worked hard to get here but they will now have to work really hard to make a career of it. They have a great opportunity here at Dunfermline. Robbie is very good technically; he is clever on the ball and sees things. There are bits that we will have to work on in his game but we will do that. He is really keen and has a great attitude."

Robbie attended Woodmill High School and he joined Dunfermline at the age of 14, it was for the second time. He had joined the Pars as a ten year old but Robbie spent two years at Rangers before returning. He said:-

"I have played for the under 20s a few times. I loved that, it was really good."

For a while Robbie will be known as the son of Stevie but he is keen to dispel the expectations by becoming a player in his own right:-

"I would like to be viewed as my own player. He was a striker and I am a central mid but I can play on the wing as well. I am really happy to sign for Dunfermline and I am looking forward to the new season."
