Galloway and Duncan Sign

Friday, 22nd May 2015

Johnny Galloway has been at Dunfermline since under 9 and has spent the last year with the Fife Elite Academy.

The former Beath High School pupil started twice in the under 20s and came off the bench on another six occasions. Johnny who is a central midfielder described his experiences:-

"It was good. The last game against Aberdeen in front of a crowd was great. It was quite intimidating to start off with but I managed to get into the game.

"It is great to be joining Dunfermline because I have always been a supporter. I would like to start as many games for the 20s and keep on improving." Johnny has been compared to Shaun Byrne quite a lot of the times and his coach commented:-

"Johnny has had a couple of starts in the Under 20s this year, he has done really well and impressed the players he has been playing with, which is important. He has got to add bits to his game and we need to try and get some more goals out of him. He is very clever on the ball and he will do really well.

"Reece has a fantastic attitude, he played right midfield but I moved him back to right back early in the season because I thought I saw something that he could do. We worked on the defensive side of his game, he asked questions and he wants to get better.

"There was a worry early in the season when he got a bad injury but I said that I would hold on to him. I wanted to bring him in full time and he is one that I think will do really well and develop and love being a full time football player.

Reece Duncan left Syngenta boys club (Falkirk) for Rangers but after 18 months there and still only fourteen years old he arrived at Dunfermline. Last season Reece suffered a set back when he tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in February and surgery followed later that month. The former pupil of Graeme High School is targeting a return towards the end of July.

"Obviously it is not going to be easy coming back from injury. I am just looking to get fit and a lot stronger. I need game time in the 20s because I lost out in game time last season.

"Before last season I played on the wing and a bit upfront but John Potter has moved me back to right back. It was difficult at first, I didn't really enjoy it but Stephen Wright and John Potter have helped me through it and given me a few pointers. I am starting to enjoy it and prefer playing there now."

John Potter summed up:-

"We have five apprentices left who are going into their second year; it is a big year for them. They have got to kick on this year. These three take us up to eight apprentices, it is a good number but the guys know that they will have to work really really hard.

"They will be training with the first team most of the time which is great and they will enjoy it. It will be good for them and I am sure that they will impress the new manager. I am looking forward to working with them every day."
