Manager welcome Myles Hippolyte
Sunday, 15th Jul 201815/07/18: “He is at a great age, he is only 23 but when you look at the clubs that he has been at, the games that he has played, he is one who could quite easily kick on and play at a higher level.”
Allan Johnston was pleased to talk about the signing of 23 year old Myles Hippolyte.
“He is somebody we have been trying to get in for a wee while. I think he gives us something totally different. He gives us a bit of pace, he is big, strong, he can play up front, he can play wide so it gives us a lot of options.
“Throughout the squad now we are starting to get options, strength in depth and so we are delighted to get him on board.
“He was still in contract with St Mirren but we have been talking to them since the start of pre season and so it was good to eventually get that one done as well. The new manager liked him but the chance to come and be a regular attracted him.
“Every game he has played against us he has caused us problems, just with his pace and skill and he can score goals as well.
“Coming from your rivals Falkirk (via St Mirren) it is up to him to hit the ground running and make sure that you become a fans’ favourite. You do that by working incredibly hard for the team and showing how much you want to be here and obviously producing really good performances.
“He knows that and he is desperate to be a success. You could see the problems he caused us every time he played us just with the attributes that he has got. I’m sure he will do very well.”
“It shows that he has a bit of confidence in his ability and I am sure that he will not let us down. He is at a great age, he is only 23 but when you look at the clubs that he has been at, the games that he has played, he is one who could quite easily kick on and play at a higher level.”
Does this mean that signings are completed?
“We will assess the squad over the next few weeks and see where we are. I think that we have a bit of strength everywhere now. In defence we have competition for places.
“Maybe with the injuries that we have had in the middle of the park it is somewhere we are a bit light at the moment but that it only because of niggles and knocks. Once they are fit we will have really good competition as well.
There was an unnamed trialist that was clearly out to impress against Motherwell on Thursday night, would he be a possible target?
“It depends how long we can have him here to see him. You don’t want to make decisions when you have only seen him a few days. That is an ongoing process.”
