Windows open but still in browser mode
Wednesday, 4th Jan 2023JMc: - “There`s some interesting things going on in the background."
Although the January transfer window is open, currently manager James McPake has no news to report but he confirmed that some promising things are underway to rectify the silence:-
"We are working away, I know that`s the boring answer and the answer that might frustrate people, but we`ll just keep working away. The answer will be the same and we`ll see what happens over the course of the month. There`s some interesting things going on in the background."
“Fake News” was how James dismissed the ‘story’ around possible interest in Pars goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet:-
"So I`m told anyway - we`ve been told it`s fake, made up by somebody. Deniz has done great. I`ve seen a lot of the Championship and our league, obviously. He`s been a standout performer this season for me in both divisions. His consistency has been great, he`s been great.”
Deniz signed for Dunfermline in June 2021, the second signing for manager Peter Grant. He only made eight appearances in his first season but in the next under James McPake he had exceeded that by the end of August.
The London keeper has achieved 13 shut outs in his 24 matches this season and James stressed:-
“His clean-sheet record speaks for itself. That`s down to the team but a lot of it is down to Deniz in certain games as well. He`s happy, he trained well so it doesn`t look like anything is happening."
With so many success stories the Dunfermline manager would be pleased to see them all still with the club come the end of this window:-
"I think everybody in there is happy. In terms of the loan ones, yeah we`ll be pleased when we get confirmation and that`s all done with. That`s always a risk, when you`ve got players playing well, you`ve got players out of contract, you`ve got loan players in. They are either playing or they aren`t getting enough minutes or they`re playing really well and other teams are looking at them. I`d rather that than not having a worry and that nobody would want our players and nobody would be interested.
“It`s just another month, it`s a chance for us to strengthen, it`s a chance for every other club to strengthen but we need to get it right."
