Training for multiple matches

"It was a really high standard, the training was at a really high tempo and it was just brilliant."

Pars defender Lewis Martin would play three games in the next four days if it was up to him. Lewis who will be 18 in April played in the SFA Youth Cup final at Hampden Park last May and would dearly loved to help his now former team mates through to the semi finals of this season's competition by beating Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.  He said:-

"I would play Saturday, then Sunday. I obviously want to play with the first team on Saturday but I'd still want to play on Sunday because it is a big game this Sunday. I'd like to be involved in both of them."

His thoughts are most likely to be all about Ayr United, at least until five o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Ayr were the opposition when Lewis made his first team start, and it was a good day for the team as well:-

"We won that day 4-2. It was a good win because we came back from 2-0 down."

After breaking into the first team back on 14th December, Lewis has been an ever present playing alongside Callum Morris, Kerr Young and lately Jonathan Page. He continued:-

"It has been brilliant. At the start of the year I didn't know if I would be playing for the first team but I just kept working hard and that's me played ten games now."

Lewis paid tribute to the assistance of fellow defenders Jonathan Page and Callum Morris who he says talk him right through games. The icing on the cake for the boy from Bonnybridge is a call up to training firstly with the Scotland under 18 squad and then the Scotland under 19.

"Me and Ryan (Williamson) went there last week and it was really good, we enjoyed it. The previous time is was the under 18s but the second time it was mainly the older ones like Fraser Aird from Rangers, Coll Donaldson from QPR and Adam King from Swansea. It was an experience. It was a really high standard, the training was at a really high tempo and it was just brilliant."

The Pars pair got a big boost out of being involved in an older group and have their eyes on the internationals in England in May. The inclusion of Ryan and Lewis in the Scotland set up has undoubtedly been assisted greatly by their Dunfermline appearances, they were the only squad members regularly starting first team games.
