It was quite a gathering at the dizzy heights of the Norrie McCathie Stand this week!

To celebrate The Dunfermline Press sponsorship of DAFC's Community Programme and Family Stand, Director of Football, Jim Leishman, Andy Barrowman and Craig Easton, children and their parents from DAFC's Dribblers class and Community Coach Gregor Tennant joined the newspaper's Managing Editor Simon Harris in freezing conditions at East End Park.

The Dunfermline Press newly erected signs are located at DAFC's family stand, an area devoted to encouraging a family friendly atmosphere at football games.

DAFC Marketing Manager Tracey Martin says "We really want to encourage young people to come to football matches with their parents and having an area specifically for families is a great way to do this.

We really appreciate having the support of The Dunfermline Press through sponsorship and hope that it will help us strenthen our joint committment to being at the heart of the community in West Fife.  With a project like Pars in the Community we can really invest in the future and involve families, schools and nurseries in a positive and active way".

DAFC's Pars in the Community programme has already been presented with the Scottish FA Quality Mark which recognises proactive clubs and schools working to increase youth and community participation.

Community Coaching Manager Kelly Armstrong comments "our community classes reach over 700 children a week in West Fife and they are a great way to get young peoole interested in football, help with their co-ordination and confidence, keep them fit and have fun too.  Children can get involved from as young as 18-months-old right up until first-team level - if they have the committment and talent, we'll help them achieve their goal."
