Same old story says Joe

Sunday, 19th Feb 2012

"We know that we are a good enough team to stay in this league and it is up to us to change it around as soon as possible."

Joe Cardle

Saturday's goal against Inverness Caley Thistle was Joe Cardle's 19th for the Pars but he was disappointed that it was not a winner:-

"When we got the goal before half time we were hoping to hold out but it is the same old story for us. We have to look at the positive side because we played some great football today given the state of the pitch and the conditions of course."

The pitch did not assist Joe's game especially when he was patrolling the stretch under the Main Stand:-

"I try and get the ball down and in the second half down this side was not going to be my sort of game. I have got to try and get the ball over the top for the front men like Hardie. I thought he had a tremendous game. The ball was going to be in the air more than it is going to be on a better pitch. That is the type of football that is going to be played at this time of the year and we have to get used to it.

Joe Cardle

"The game was a lot better in the second half for both teams. It was a lot more open and a lot of chances were created. Unfortunately we didn't take the chances, there were two or three where the boys who got the chances normally put these away every day.

"They went up the pitch and got the goal that killed us off a little bit. We are all gutted that we never got the three points today and we can't blame the pitch for us not taking them.

"We just have to look at the positives and push on for next Wednesday. It is going to be a hard game against Celtic and then we have the big one next week.

"I know that we are nearly three quarters into the season and I know that we haven't won at home yet which is ridiculous, but we have a good enough team here to be getting those three points at home. The boys have all got the backing of each other, we know that we are a good enough team to stay in this league and it is up to us to change it around as soon as possible."
