Raising money is neigh bother

The Elizabethan hosted the Race Night, which was a sell-out, on Friday, 6 March 2015.

The Elizabethan Pars Supporters’ Club is continuing its fantastic record of doing more than simply follow Dunfermline Athletic on the road by raising over £1,225 for Fife SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal charity, through a recent Race Night. SANDS operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

The Supporters’ Club’s Mikey Mlotkiewicz said:

"We planned the Race Night a few months ago because we wanted to give something back to the community through a local charity that meant something to us as a supporters’ club. A few of our members have links to SANDS so it was an easy decision. It was a fantastic night and a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who came along and showed their support, including Club Legend, John Watson, the Pars supporters and all the local businesses which supported the event.”

Debbie Chalmers, Treasurer of Fife SANDS said:

“Fife Sands is run entirely by volunteers, who are bereaved parents themselves. We rely on the generosity of our supporters in order to continue the vital support we offer to Fife parents and their families following the death of a baby. It’s fantastic to hear that the Race Night has been such a success and we’re very grateful to the Elizabethan Pars Supporters’ Club for their support.

"The help of local fundraisers raises awareness of the services offered by Fife Sands and allows us to ensure that support continues for bereaved parents and families.”

The Elizabethan Pars, in conjunction with the Brucefield Travel Club, also recently raised £1,000 in aid of former Forfar Athletic player Jack Syme. The defender was tragically found dead in February 2015.
