Pars Fan Goes the Extra 100 Miles for Charity

100-mile cycle to help fund vital research into the life threatening disease, meningitis.

Pars Supporters’ Trust Board member and Pars Foundation Trustee Gordon Milne will be taking part in a 100-mile cycle to help fund vital research into the life threatening disease, meningitis.

Gordon first contracted meningitis as an 18-month-old baby and has been hospitalised on several occasions since. The most recent being in 2007 when he was admitted to the high dependency unit at Queen Margaret hospital in Dunfermline. Since recovering from his last relapse, Gordon took up cycling to become fitter and, together with a new treatment which seems to boost his immune system, Gordon hasn’t looked back and has decided to fundraise for the charity Meningitis Now.

Together with his friend Paul Watson he will take part in the 100-mile Ride London Cycle on August 2, which follows the Olympic route. Gordon said “Meningitis Now is a fantastic charity which provides valuable support not just for patients but for their families and also carries out vital research.”

Gordon and wife Linda, herself a life-long Pars fan, live in Dunfermline with their two sons who are members of the Young Pars and are ball boys at East End Park on match days. Gordon always knew he was destined to follow DAFC having been born on the day the Pars last won the Scottish Cup!
