Players from Dunfermline Athletic paid a visit to Deep Sea World, Scotland's national aquarium, to see their new black-and-white-themed feature.

The Pars' famously play in black and white stripes and the aquarium invited team-members to get a special sneak preview of the new, monochrome display.

'A Fish Called Panda' features a variety of black and white species including the appropriately-named panda clownfish, the Fijian panda damsel, the four-stripe damselfish, the three-stripe humbug, the black and white clownfish and the black and white chromis.

Among the players who attended were goalkeepers Paul Gallacher and Spaniard Bernardo Fernandez, midfielder Paul Burns and striker Andrew Barrowman.

Deep Sea World's Aisling Thornton said: "It was great to welcome the players along to the aquarium to see the new feature and to have a general look around the other displays.

"For many people tropical fish species are renowned for their bright colours but this display aims to prove that monochrome can be just as spectacular and exciting as their colourful counterparts.

"The players seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves and we're hoping to persuade a few of them back to really take the plunge and join in with one of our shark dives in the not too distant future.

"I've been reassured that the display hasn't been designed as a tribute to the Pars and that it's just a coincidence that they happen to be so popular among the staff," added Aisling.

In the vibrant colours of a tropical reef, black and white markings are actually extremely distinctive and help you stand out from the crowd.

They can either be used to advertise yourself to potential partners or to warn would-be predators that you are not good to eat.
