Dunfermline manager Stevie Crawford was delighted with the 3-2 win over Queen of the South and in particular with the way his side finished the first half. He said:-

“It was probably our best spell in the game in terms of possession and looking like we were going to score goals. We scored at a good time in the second half as well to go 3-1 up but I thought Queens grew into the game and when they were throwing everything at us at 3-2 but we have shown enough to come away with the three points.”

No silky football just grit to put the result on the board?

“I agree with that. It wasn’t until you went out to say well done to the officials today that you see how much the wind was swirling. It is another side to us. People have spoken about us being quite quiet in the first half of games this year but it was the other way about today. We dug in when we had to.”

Goals came from setplays and SC felt that it was good that Paul Watson scored on the hour to make it 3-1:-

“Euan Murray attacked the front post and he showed a striker’s instinctive and it was nice for him to get a goal as well. It was the delivery, albeit it was the Thomas-Murray combination, other boys have been attacking, doing their jobs right and creating space. It is not just the Dom Thomas- Euan Murray Show, it is other boys creating spaces for others.”

With Hearts playing in the semi final of the Scottish Cup, the Pars win takes them to the top of the table. Stevie wanted to stress that it is only three games into the season:-

“Having taken maximum points we have just got to make sure that we go into every game and apply ourselves in the proper manner. It is a nice feeling to be sitting up there but it is definitely not a case of getting carried away. We will enjoy it over the weekend.”

Aaron Comrie was forced off in the first half and as the defender hobbled away with the aid of a crutch, behind the manager he revealed:-

“Aaron had actually gone over on his ankle in a game earlier this season, it is too early to say where he is at the moment. He was looking good in training so I’m gutted for him. I don’t think that there is anything to worry about but it is too early to tell at the moment.”

Asked to comment on the Pars best ever start to a season, Stevie replied:-

“People never look back at the end of a season and say that wasn’t the best of games, or that performance where you carried a bit of luck. You maybe get a handful of games, five or so where everything goes your way. Credit to the boys, we could have buckled and gone under when Queens got it back to 3-2. They possibly could have gone on to win the game.

“That side excites me more than scoring goals at the moment. We are going to come up against it at some point in the season you always do in football, it is how we react and as long as we apply ourselves properly I can live with that.“
