Allan Johnston was pleased with his team’s performance but felt that they maybe made it a bit harder than it should have been. He told the media:-

“We had quite a lot of chances but there were some really good goals. There were some really good individual performances and it is still the kind of build up to the competitive season. I think we are getting there, you can see that we are improving game by game.

“I thought big Myles was exceptional upfront. He caused them all sorts of problems and then when you have quality like young Aidan coming on, showing a bit of magic, hitting the bar from the free kick and setting up the last goal for a great finish from Andy Ryan. It just shows you the competition that we have got.”

New signing Myles Hippolyte made a big impression scoring on his Dunfermline debut. AJ said:-

“That is always good, you want to hit the ground running and I thought the fans got right behind him as well. You could see the effort that he put in and the physical presence, the pace and it was a great goal.

“Ryan Williamson does really well picking him out with a great ball in. He gives us something different with his height, obviously he is good in the air.”

The Betfred Cup will see the Pars play four games in 11 days, the manager suggested that he will probably use his full squad:-

“That is why it is good that you have such good competition for places. We have loads of players who are going to put pressure on each other to play.”

The manager felt that his team was coming together well:-

“As I said it is still really early in the season but you can see some of the quality play that we produced. I think we restricted Peterhead to few opportunities, they hit the post and there was a deflection on the first half that they nearly scored from but in the main I thought we defended well but if I am honest we could have been a bit more clinical with our chances.”

Andy Ryan came on in the 90th minute but there was still enough time for him to stake a claim for a starting place as he scored within three minutes, the manager expanded:-

“Andy has missed the last six days of training because he had hurt his toe. So he is only back in training and it is good to see him back to full fitness as well.

“It was a great finish, I think we had one just before that when Louis Longridge did unbelievably well and he was unlucky not to score but ‘Chucky’ showed him how to do it.”
