If you include the nine goals from the penalty spot on Tuesday, Dunfermline have now scored twenty times in the Betfred Cup. Unsurprisingly Allan Johnston was delighted with his team`s goals. He said:-
"I thought in the first half some of the pace at which we played and some of the passing was outstanding. We totally controlled the game, sometimes it is hard to keep that going for the full ninety but credit to the boys, I thought that they played really well today.
"I thought Joe Cardle was a threat, he scored two goals and got loads of crosses into the box which is more like him. Nicky Clark never scored but he created and was involved in the first three goals. Obviously Declan McManus getting goals is great to see, that will do his confidence the world of good. He is getting sharper and sharper every time.
"We have said that we are still using this as pre season, still building up and we are getting sharper and sharper every week. Hopefully come the first league game we are flying, that is the plan anyway."
The result over Peterhead took Dunfermline to eight points and they still lead the section. Hearts have played a game less and they travel to play Peterhead on Tuesday ahead of what could be a section decider next Saturday. AJ continued:-
"It is going to be a tough game going to Tynecastle against top quality players but that is where you want be and that is what you want to test yourself against. Playing against a top Hearts team is a good test before the league begins.
"I am sure that the boys will go into that with a lot of confidence from today. We just have to keep on building on that."
