11/02/12: JM - "It was the Old Firm that we were playing today; we will not be judged against them, we will be judged by the teams round about us.

Despite the defeat by Rangers, Jim McIntyre was still confident about his side:-

"Any time you take the lead it is important that you keep the 'back door' shut for the next ten minutes to try and keep that lead. We never managed to do that and the second goal was disappointing because it was not a free kick. Having watched it again I don't know what the referee has seen but that was a big moment in the game as well.

"We have had one cleared off the line at 3-1 as well which was another big moment in the game. The third goal has taken a hell of a lot of movement; you have to credit Aluko for his strike because it looked as though it moved all over the shop."

The Pars boss still feels that his team has the character to turn their season around:-

"If a team was devoid of confidence they wouldn't start the game they way they did today. We have done that on recent occasions but it is important that we don't give away the types of goals that we give away. It was the Old Firm that we were playing today; we will not be judged against them, we will be judged by the teams round about us. I have every confidence that the boys can stay in this league."

Macca's confidence is based on the acquisitions that he has made during January to augment his squad:-

"We are hopeful that come next weekend that we are on the money. That is the type of game that we have got to win."

It could be however that Dunfermline could be without the services of Mark Kerr who left the stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury in a crunching tackle with Steven Davis. Mark was heading to hospital for an x-ray:-

"We don't know how serious his injury is. He says that he heard something but we will need to wait until we know the facts."

Rangers manager, Ally McCoist was on good form when he talked to the media post match finding it particularly amusing as the BBC were booted out of the interview:-

"BBC trying to sneak in there at the back post" he joked. "Well detected by my colleague on my right hand side there, I wish we had been as vigilant at the first goal!

"We're pleased, very pleased with the result today although I have to say I'm really disappointed with the goal we lost. I know we had a man off the park but we didn't seem to get ourselves organised. That was a worry and a concern because effectively they should be organising themselves in a situation like that.

"But I thought our reaction after that was first class and there were some terrific individual performances as well as a good overall team performance. I thought Davis and Edu in the centre midfield were very good and McCulloch played that centre forward role which we wanted and did exceptionally well. He led the line really well, positioned himself to get us free kicks and his goal capped a wonderful performance today.

"To have four different scorers this afternoon was good as well so overall it's been a good day. But it's only one victory and we still have a long way to go."
