MID SEASON TICKETS

Jim McIntyre

Jim McIntyre knew that he had been in a tough game to take the points from Partick Thistle:-

"I am delighted over the piece. Results breed confidence - you need that wee bit of luck at times as well. We have been playing some good stuff and I thought having played well in spells we ground out the result against a very tough and well organised Thistle side.

"Willie Gibson was excellent again. Having been left out he has come back in and been superb. They are a great bunch to work with, they give you their all every day in training and they are willing learners. Long may that continue but we will keep our feet on the ground. It is early days, we are just trying to get in amongst the pack. If we keep playing that way and showing that kind of desire then we have got a chance."

Bench Dunfermline v Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle manager, Ian McCall lamented two out of character errors from his central defender John Robertson.

"We got to 2-1 and pressed and pressed. Jim changed to go one up but we couldn't get the second goal despite some good opportunities. It must have been a good job to watch; it was fast and I was pleased how hard we worked.

"I would love to see the corner count for the first half, we had about ten or eleven. There wasn't a lot wrong with how we played, we just made four or five errors from boys who haven't done that this season."

McCall made sure everyone recognised that East End Park was not an easy place for any side to come in search of league points and described the First Division as 'nuts' in the way that Morton defeated Raith Rovers 5-0 with just six points now separate the top seven teams:-

"Any team from the first seven can win this league and if you can win four games in a row you can be top of the league. It was a hard one for us to take having put so much into the game. 3-1 is pretty unfair because at the time we were pushing everybody forward to try and get an equaliser."

It was a player that Ian McCall had groomed at Queen of the South that ultimately made the difference:-

"Willie Gibson has ability, there is no doubt about that. I thought he was a little naughty a couple of times with his antics but he did well today but the first and second goals were absolute gifts."
