Manager on Thursday

12/03/15: John Potter is well aware that the league season has just eight matches to go and winning games is of prime importance.

"We did it last weekend and our performance was better for the majority of the game. I was happy we did it even though we were hanging on a bit for the last five minutes. The first 85 were very good, we were happy with that and it gives us something to build on this week."

The manager knows that his side were lucky to leave Forthbank with a point after a spirited performance by the ten men of Stirling Albion. Lewis Martin's late goal denied the Binos of their first home win of the season and since then Potter has watched Saturday's opponents a couple of times:-

"They can be a dangerous team. They were very unlucky to lose to Morton but they have a team that is maybe a wee bit low in confidence at the moment but they have players who can hurt you. We have to go and do our job and do it right. If we do that then I am confident that we can win."

Other League One fixtures do not concern John Potter who knows that first and foremost the most important result is his own team's:-

"If we don't win the rest is irrelevant and doesn't really matter. So as long as we do our side, the teams that are playing each other and we can catch up some teams but only if we win. We will solely focus on ourselves; do our job and do it right.

"We have got to take the positives from last week, brush up on a few things and if we do that I am confident that we can cause Stirling problems."

Against Ayr last Saturday Potter set his team out with Paul George on one side and David Hopkirk on the other. The gaffer felt that George is still picking up on match fitness and was hampered last week when illness restricted his training.

"He has had a good week this week; he has done a lot of hard work. Last week we had a couple of suspensions so we had to mix the team about a bit. We don't like doing that all the time but I was pleased with large parts of the game. Hopefully we can do it again this week."

Ryan Wallace returned to competitive action on Tuesday in the SPFL Development League against Dundee United but had to retire after just 39 minutes. The manager said that he had trained well before the game but broke down with the same problem.

"We are not too sure how he is. We will just wait and see how he is."

Other injured player Alex Whittle returned to training this week after being forced off with a foot injury at Forfar three weeks ago. So with Gregor Buchanan and Josh Falkingham having served their suspensions Dunfermline have a near full squad available to face Stuart McLaren's Stirling side.
