Jim McIntyre is not treating the match against bottom of the table, Morton any differently in fact the 3-0 defeat on the last visit is still firmly fixed in his memory. He told the website:-

"If you look at Cappielow it is one of the hardest away to go to to try and get a result. They proved that last season when they cuffed us 3-0. We will have to be at our best because they are fighting for points.

"They played really well on Tuesday night against Inverness and we know how difficult it will be. They are a big, strong physical team and we will need to match that.

"Every team strengthened for the new season, they signed Erik Paartulu and Jenkins. I like the boy McAllister up front, he is lively in wider areas. They have threats there and they are a major threat from set pieces as well. Ryan McGuffie is a good player, he bombs on into the box and in the middle of the park he has presence. He has height about him too and he will be one that we will need to watch."

His players all came through Tuesday night's Co-operative Cup tie against St Mirren unscathed.

"It is the first time in a long time that I haven't lost two or three out of a game, that is a delight in itself apart from the result too. It was a great result" Macca stressed, "great goals". Graham Bayne's header was top drawer, you will not see a better header than that - that's two goals of the season so far for him."

Stephen Glass is back in training but has yet to fully recover from his abductor muscle injury. Graham Holmes and Macca remain the only other members of the squad ruled out.

Reflecting on the Co-operative Insurance Cup draw that sees him return to the club he left to come to Dunfermline:-

"Obviously we would have liked a home draw but it is one to look forward to. No matter who we got we were going to be the underdogs so we will go there and try and do as well as we can, it's the Quarter Final of a cup after all. We will go there with no pressure on us and try and get a result."

Last year Dundee United reached the final and were unlucky not to lift the trophy, Jim McIntyre is an admirer of the manager Craig Levein, Peter Houston his number two and the team that they have put together.

"Craig has great experience and knows the game inside out so it will be an interesting tie. We played them pre season and it was quite close, but that was pre season and you don't read anything into that. We will do our homework on them in the coming month and hopefully we can go up there and give a good account of ourselves."
