Liam Buchanan Post Aberdeen

Monday, 28th Nov 2011

"At the end of the day it feels like it was for nothing; when up 3-1 we should have held out and got the win.

Liam Buchanan makes it Dunfermline 3 Aberdeen 1

Liam Buchanan replaced Andy Kirk in 69th minute of Saturday's match against Aberdeen and then put the Pars 3-1 ahead with his first touch.  Liam's third goal of the season was set up by his former Partick Thistle team mate:-

"I dropped back a little bit when I saw Paddy (Boyle) hit the line. The goalie saved it and it just fell kindly for me. It was good to come on and get such an early touch and it being a goal.

"At the end of the day it feels like it was for nothing; when up 3-1 we should have held out and got the win. The boys are all devastated after being 3-1 up with 12 minutes to go."

Everyone connected with the Pars was deeply disappointed that Aberdeen were able to come back and Liam shared the views that most on the sidelines would have shared:-

"We looked good; Barrowman had another chance and we looked comfortable but it is always the same once one teams gets a goal their tails are up a bit. They kept coming at us to be fair and in the end we were maybe lucky to hold on for a draw.

"It feels like a defeat. It is hard to explained how the boys are feeling and the Manager was gutted that they did not take advantage of the position that we were in. In this league when you are in front like that you really have got to pick up the three points. It is so difficult to pick up points and we were punished for switching off for ten minutes."

Paddy Boyle sets up goal no.3

Aberdeen were keen not to let Dunfermline extend the gap between the teams and Liam added:-

"They dug in at 3-1 down and got their second goal. Then they kept pressing us and managed to get their third. Credit to them their manager will be delighted.  Against teams round about you have got to go and take the three points. Other teams would have finished us off."

The match was the opposite to how the previous SPL match had finished against Celtic:-

"At Parkhead on Wednesday we were on the up and we seemed to take the game to them. With an extra five minutes we could maybe have got something. Against Aberdeen we were probably glad to hear the final whistle in the end because we looked rattled."

The 26 year old striker has started in just two of the Pars SPL games (at Hibs and St Mirren), so is it any the more likely that super sub Liam might get a start next Saturday at Ibrox?

"It would be nice but I just have to keep working hard in training and when I do come on, make some sort of impact "
