The funeral of Charlie Dickson was held at West Lothian Crematorium in Livingston last Friday.

The funeral of Charlie Dickson was held at West Lothian Crematorium in Livingston last Friday.  General Manager, David McMorrine and Rodney Shearer attended on behalf of the a club.  Players were represented by Bert Paton, Willie Callaghan, Harry Melrose and Roy Barry. Chris Wishart represented the Former Players Association.

It was a very emotional affair with a strong football theme focused very much on Dunfermline. The grandchildren were all in Dunfermline tops and the Charlie Dickson song, "shoot on sight" was played. One grandchild even had this on the back of their shirt.

Harry Melrose who played alongside Charlie in the 1961 Scottish Cup winning side remembered:-

"We had our last get together of former players a year ago and Charlie was there, larger than life as always. He was an Edinburgh man like me so we travelled a lot to gether when I became full time and we used to socialise together with the wives.

"People used to joke that he would chase a paper bag down the park but he really played for the jersey and was briliant in the air. It was a shock and it's very sad."

Rodney Shearer accepted the family's invitation to attend at the Hillcroft Hotel in Whitburn after the funeral. He spoke to Charlie's wife, Frances and they shared a few stories about his days at Dunfermline.

Charlie Dickson who was 79 died on Friday 18th October after a short illness. He is survived by his wife twin daughters Arlene and Karen, son Charlie and his other daughter, Yvonne, and their children.
