Keeper saves penalty and points

Ryan Scully's penalty at Stenhousemuir save ensures three points

"It was a big win because we have not been in the best of form. It wasn't the greatest of games but we know at this stage in the season it is just about getting the three points."

The Pars keeper was the busier of the two stoppers in the first half, he continued:-

"I had a couple of good saves as they had their spells but I thought the boys were brilliant in the first half. It was just the final third that was letting us down but the effort and desire from the boys showed and that is what the gaffer wants from us.

"The boys dug in and showed character in the end to hold off Stenhousemuir. Ok if we drag out games 1-0 for the rest of the season then we will be happy."

It can be frustrating life for a Dunfermline goalkeeper to watch the players in front of him.

"The final third has been letting us down. The goal from Faiss was a great finish for him but as we have been saying we need to start killing teams off. It is vital to get that second goal to kill off teams because teams are always going to get a chance against us. Sometimes they will are going to take them."

Ryan had not faced a penalty taken by Colin McMenamin before but he revealed that he read something in the striker's approach:-

"I just thought when he shaped to run up to the ball meant that he couldn't really whip it to the other side. It is just a gamble, he could have just smashed it down the middle. Lucky enough I have dived the right way and saved it.

"I thought the penalty decision was harsh but at their throw in we let the man approach too easily. Then at the end Kyle McAusland made a great challenge to make the block on an easy tap in.

"You can't beat the feeling from the three points. You cannot beat that feeling on a Saturday night. We need to concentrate on what we do now, it is up to us. If we keep getting three points on a Saturday we don't need to worry about what other teams do."
