Jim Hamilton Post Kilmarnock

Sunday, 10th Sep 2006

The mentality at the club is to get dug in and we got the breaks at the right time.

All the attention on Saturday was focussed on Dunfermline's two debut boys Jim Hamilton and Stevie Crawford. Fans are hoping that they are witnessing the formation of what will become a successful striking pairing. Hammy gave his thoughts after the match:-

"Stevie is a very intelligent player, it was good to play with him and for him to score the winning goal.

"You just like being involved in goals and scoring them but it is not just about me or Stevie but the team. We were lucky to get the three points that take us off the bottom of the league.

"That shows the character of the squad we have got here. Quite a few teams would have chucked it when we got back from 1-0 to 1-1 and then to 2-1 but the mentality at the club is to get dug in and we got the breaks at the right time.

"We have to aim to try and get in the Top Six; it is that close a league at the moment that you are only talking one or two wins to get into the Top Six. We need to keep building on it. We go to Parkhead next week it will be very difficult but we can hopefully take something out of the Kilmarnock game and have a go at Celtic."

Regardless of next Saturday the taste of victory that everyone at East End was going to enjoy:-

"It is a bit of a relief off everybody's shoulders because everybody has been doom and gloom because of the squad we had left but me and Stevie have come in. Greg Shields will be back from injury next week and other boys are coming back so it shows that the squad is strengthening and I am sure we can start moving up the league."
