Danny scores on day one

Sunday, 2nd Feb 2014

"I can't take all the credit there was a little bit of a deflection in there."

Dannys shot takes a deflection

Danny Grainger made an impressive Pars debut against East Fife, he scored a goal and secured a win. For him it was important to be back playing for the full 90 minutes.  After the win he said:-

"It was three points and that's the main thing. Hopefully we can carry on from where we left off today and kick on. I have missed a lot of football in the last two years and my main objective was to come here and play football.

"I know Jim (Jefferies) very well and after speaking to him I was looking forward to coming over and playing as much football as I can."

It was Danny's first goal since November 2012 when he scored the only goal at Tynecastle in the Jambos win over St Mirren.

"It was a bit lucky. The Manager just asked me to get up and down the pitch and I caught the ball well. It was nice; it was my right foot but I can't take all the credit there was a little bit of a deflection in there."

Ryan Williamson had a role in all three of the Dunfermline goals and his deliveries were a new experience for the 27 year old Englishman who only joined the Pars on Friday from St Mirren:-

"I hadn't actually trained with the boys. The manager speaks highly of a lot of the younger lads, after seeing Ryan today he is definitely one for the future. He has a big future ahead of him if he continues doing what he is doing."

Danny Grainger

Danny has signed a deal until the end of this season and he hopes to assist Dunfermline clinch promotion:-

"That is what I have come here for, help myself get games of football and help Dunfermline get promoted. Get them back to where they should be playing at and that's at the top level. I have just sign a short term deal but we will see how things go and maybe look at that again later."

It was Jim Jefferies who signed Danny for Hearts in May 2011 and he was to go on to win a Scottish Cup winners medal with the Tynecastle club scoring as well as they saw off Hibs 5-1 in the final. Reunited with Jefferies he commented on the manager and observed that JJ's style seemed to have mellowed:-

"I have worked with him before and he is one of the managers that I have a lot of time for. It was an easy decision once I spoke to him. He keeps telling me that Neil McCann is the one who loses the rag. Neil was in training with us when I was at St Johnstone and I cannot imagine him losing the rag but I am starting to see it a little now. Jim seems to have mellowed and Neil taken over from that."

Danny was at St Johnstone when Josh Falkingham was a Saintee. He knows John Potter and has played against several of his new team mates. He signed off:-

"It is quite easy to come to a team like this."
