CAFE week of action

Saturday’s fixture against Morton is being sponsored by Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters’ Club in association with the Centre for Access to Football in Europe

DAFC are delighted to announce that, for the first time ever a Pars match (Saturday’s fixture against Morton) is being sponsored by Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters’ Club (DADSC) in association with the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE).

This is being done in order to promote CAFEs week of action, an annual campaign to raise awareness of the ongoing work to promote inclusion and to improve conditions for disabled supporters across Europe. DAFC are proud to join clubs from over 20 countries in supporting CAFE and their #TotalAccess theme.

DAFCs Disability Access Officer, Graham Ross, added “CAFE have played a key role in bringing together clubs from across Europe in order to share our experiences and identify ways we can make things better for our fans. We are very keen to promote this initiative and to also highlight the excellent work of the DADSC in helping the club make match days as comfortable as possible for our supporters. I would urge any supporter who would like to join us here at East End Park and who needs some assistance, to contact me at dao@dafc.co.uk or on 07877980028 and I will do everything I can to support your needs”

On Saturday members of DADSC will use social media to choose the Man of the Match. All proceeds of the sponsorship have been ring fenced by the Club and will go towards improving facilities for disabled fans at East End Park. Tune in to ParsTV before the match for interviews with those involved.

Dave Nugent, the Chair of Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters Club commented

“We’re grateful to the DAFC Board and the 1885 Business Club for making all this possible. #TotalAccess is what every club should aspire to achieve and DAFC values the loyalty and continuing support of disabled fans. We all want East End Park to be a welcoming place and, working closely with the club, we do all we can to cater for every need.

An example of this is the work of our volunteer Match Buddies who make the matchday experience a better one for wheelchair users and ambulant disabled fans, with fleece blankets and a refreshment ordering service. Within the stadium the club provides audio commentary for fans with visual impairments aswell as having dedicated seating for those with guide dogs. These facilities are available to home and away fans alike.

Furthermore during lockdown we at DADSC hold a weekly catch-up via Zoom, so that nobody need feel alone or forgotten about”
