Morris motoring on at Dunfermline

Callum:- "I am happy where I am at the minute, I am enjoying my football ....

Callum Morris maintains that his current thoughts are all about his football at Dunfermline. Despite media talk suggesting that he would leave at the end of the season, these were dismissed by the towering defender:-

"I am just concentrating on footbal. It has been brilliant since I came in January. I have had a great run of games and I have a great partnership now with Lee Ashcroft and the back four. The lads have made me so welcome.

"I am not even looking ahead to next season, I am solely focussed on this season and the games that we have got coming up. I don`t know where that talk has come from. I have not spoken to anyone or know anything, it is just the rumour mill taking over as always.

"I am happy where I am at the minute, I am enjoying my football and you can see with the squad we have got now, take away the disappointing result, we are all enjoying football.

"We have had just three defeats in 23 matches. We are on a good run we just need to convert more into wins and then you never know what can happen. It is just game by game for now."

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Dundee United, the former United player now Par, Morris said that he thought Dunfermline started the match well.

"We created a lot of chances but we didn`t take then we got hit by a sucker punch on the counterattack. We were a little deflated for a bit and we were just disappointed not to take anything from the game.

"We came into the game full of confidence after the run of games and results that we have had. I think we probably should have got something because of the quality in the squad.

"Yes, we are disappointed but there are some good things that we can take into the weekend. We will look over it all again and build for Saturday."

The defence stood up well and that was from front to back. Only three goals have been conceded in the last six Championship matches and Callum felt that they have not been giving much away. He continued:-

"We have been solid and if we keep a clean sheet then we have a better chance of winning the game. It is a tough one to take a 1-0, the game was scrappy as well, we did dig in but I don`t think we created that many chances."

It was the central defender who came closest to scoring for Dunfermline, he claimed that he was disappointed not to finish the setpiece opportunity.

"It was a good corner and it sat perfectly for us. I should have done better really. I will hold my hands up with that one, I should have converted. The overriding emotion is one of disappointment in coming to Tannadice and losing the game. We will dust ourselves and go again on Saturday."

Next up are Dumbarton who will be formidable opponents since they will be fighting to keep clear of the bottom two places in the league.

"Dumbarton are trying to establish themselves as a Championship club again. It will be a different task but it is the same thing, we go into it with the same mentality and a positive mind set knowing what we can do. If we can play the way we can we will hopefully get a result."

One game at a time was Callum`s take on being questioned on the possibility of finishing fifth.

"We go to Queen of the South on the last day of the season and we never know what is going to happen that day. It is pointless looking ahead to games coming up, Saturday is the next game, Dumbarton away. That is the one to focus on now and hopefully go and get a result there."
