Paul claims breathing space for Pars
Monday, 10th Apr 2017"It is a season we can build on and progress from."
Paul McMullan was relieved to take three points from the Fife Derby on Saturday and increase the gap between the Pars and the four teams below them in the Championship:-
"It was getting a wee bit close down the bottom and getting nervy. That win gives us breathing space with so little games left. We are probably now looking up the way instead of down which is nice."
It was Paul who was taken down by Jason Thomson to earn the Pars a 49th minute penalty kick, he described it:-
"I just got my body in front of the guy and he came through the back of me. I don`t know how it looked from the side it felt like it was a clear penalty."
It was Paul who was involved when the same two players were involved in a Rovers penalty claim. Paul didn`t think that it was a penalty:-
"There wasn`t any contact in that penalty box. The guys who were complaining couldn`t see it, they were just shouting for the sake of it. To be honest I would be shouting for it too if it was us."
Paul received a standing ovation when he was substituted by Joe Cardle near the end of the match, he enjoyed the praise:-
"It is always nice when you go off and get a nice round of applause for working hard."
Paul feels that it has been a positive season for Dunfermlne in their first season back in the second tier of Scottish football.
"We would have a good few more points but we drew too many games. It is something we can improve with a bit more of a killer instinct. It is a season we can build on and progress from."
