Manager Allan Johnston admitted that this was no classic Fife Derby but he was happy to take the three points. He told the media:-
"It was a bit scrappy at times on a really bumpy pitch. I think we just edged it overall, especially in the second half. The keeper had a couple of great saves, one from Nicky (Clark) and one really good save from Moff (Moffat). So it was really good to get the penalty to win it."
For the second week running Dunfermline`s goal came from a Kallum Higginbotham penalty just four minutes after the interval. The manager praised the players composure:-
"The pressure was on and Higgy stepped up. Especially after all the penalties that we have missed this year, he showed class to chip it in the corner. That is the type of composure that you are looking for. He has been working on them after training so it is great to see it paying off.
"You never get the ball off him, he is first there. He is one of those guys who is always desperate to do well. We are delighted for him. He has chipped in with a few vital goals and he can still add even more.
"It is vital to win these games. Sometimes we had to grind it out and i thought we deserved it. Now we have another massive game on Tuesday (v Dundee united at Tannadice). We just have to make sure that we recover well and hopefully get another good result."
The 1-0 win over Raith was just the Pars third home win since October and Allan Johnston agreed that unbeaten runs are fine but three points were important:-
"The start of the season and too many draws has let us down. Even today, three really good chances and we probably have to take one of them at least to finish the game off. You are always liable to lose one. They were going for it at the end."
