Moff has more than a point to make
Friday, 31st Mar 2017Michael Moffat keen to take confidence from Cappielow into match against Capital opponents
Michael Moffat feels that Dunfermline should have taken more than one point from the three fixtures against Hibs this season. Saturday is the final but good opportunity to take something more off Neil Lennon`s side. Coming on the back of what he feels was the Pars best performance since the 2-2 draw at Easter Road, he told the media:-
"Saturday was probably the best that we have played for a wee while. When we knew that Morton had not been beaten at home for a while, we knew it would be a tough game but I think we deserved to win.
"The defenders were under a lot of pressure but it was good to get a clean sheet. They held out and it was a great three points."
Following a defeat to the second bottom team, the victory over the club now sitting second top demonstrates what is commonly believed that any team can beat any other in this season`s Championship.
"We probably didn`t deserve to lose against Ayr but we just didn`t take our chances and they got one from a setpiece and that is always the danger when you are on top and don`t score.
"It is a funny league, we needed to pick it up against Morton and we did. That was good but it is a case of what could have been if we had beaten Ayr. We would have closed the ground on the teams up above us but the gap is still quite big with Dundee United winning on Tuesday night."
Moff recalled the three matches against Hibs this season and felt that they should have yielded one than just the one point so far earned:-
"We went there in the second game of the season, got it back to 1-1 and looked like the team that was going to go and win the game. We made a mistake that day and got punished. It was a learning curve - if you make a mistake in this league, you usually get punished for it.
"In the game here we were ahead 1-0 after a penalty but I think Hibs possibly deserved it with their second half play. In the last game we should have won. We showed great character to come back and get a draw from 2-0 down. We were disappointed that day not to get a win because their keeper had two or three great saves and we hit the post and the bar.
"We will go into the game on Saturday with a lot of confidence because we have played well against them. They will fill the away stand and it is always nice to see the stadium filling up. They need a few more wins and then it will be over. They have a good gap over the chasing teams. It will be a tough game because they will want to get promotion wrapped up as quick as they can."
Keen to win, Michael underlined the feelings of the home players who never want a visiting team to come to their patch and take away full points. Hibs are just four wins away from securing their target and that should certainly make it all to play for:-
"You don`t want them coming when they have the league title to go for as well. The game on Wednesday night might have taken something out of them and we can put on a good performance like we did on Saturday to go on a run until the end of the season."
