Nicky`s hat trick of headers sinks Sons of the Rock

Nicky Clark was delighted to score four goals on Saturday in the 5-1 home win over close rivals Dumbarton. He once scored four in a match for Rangers against Forfar Athletic in December 2013 but claimed that he was just as happy with the three points than with the three goals that formed his first hat trick since joining Dunfermline in August.

"It was three headers as well although I think the second one was a bit lucky to go in but I will take it since it hit the back of the net. It is just great to get four goals."

The 25 year old who took his season`s tally to 13 goals praised the service supplied by his striking partner, Michael Moffat:-

"It was a brilliant ball in for the first goal. You need service and here at the club we have boys with great ability on the wings. Obviously me and Michael are doing well upfront together, it is all going well.

"The team is performing well just now and I think it is hard to change that. Gavin Reilly came on, he is doing well and working really hard in training. You can gauge how strong the squad is when you look at the boys we have on the bench."

When Clark signed for Dunfermline it was Michael Moffat who made way to let Nicky into the team. It was not until mid November that they started together and Saturdays match was the thirteenth time that they had lined up together.

"We have played a few games together now and everything seems to be going well and we are getting goals. The team are performing well and long may it continue.

"We are looking up the way and trying to close the gap as much as we can. We have a few big games coming up. Saturday was massive for us and Tuesday night now will be as well. We will take one game at a time but we know that the next three or four games are massive for us."

The goal scored by Paul McMullan caused animosity in the Dumbarton team and Nicky was too busy celebrating the goal to see what happened:-

"One of the other boys told me what had happened and that is part and parcel of football. You get fights here and there. It is usually on training days, you don`t normally see it on a football park but it shows that they care.

"They were obviously getting frustrated and at that point in the game we were well on top. I had a chance just before the second goal, we were playing well and it was getting to them."
