Dunfermline Athletic manager and former Queen of the South manager, Allan Johnston felt that there was not much between the sides, he said:-
"I imagine it was a pretty poor game to watch, there was not much quality football there but sometimes the conditions and a pitch that was hard to play - you could see a lot of bobbles. Second half we probably had the better opportunities - we hit the post and John Herron should have scored with his header as well.
"We probably had the better chances but in saying that there was not much between the two teams."
The match was in complete contrast to Saturday`s entertaining 5-1 win over Dumbarton
"I don`t think that it was a great atmosphere. It was very quiet tonight and it was one where the boys had to create their own atmosphere and to try and lift themselves."
After a wet and rainy period the pitch struggled to cope with two matches in the space of four days, the manager praised the groundstaff for getting the playing surface the best they could. Asked what was a reasonable target for his side, AJ replied:-
"We are just trying to catch the teams up above us. We are on a good run just now, we have probably had too many draws from our point of view but there has been a lot of good play. Earlier on in the season we would probably have got beat in that game. At least we took a point but we are disappointed , especially at home that we don`t win these types of games."
Reminded that it was one defeat in thirteen league games, Allan agreed that was an impressive statistic, he commented:-
"When you consider the start to the season that we had, I think we are much improved. We still have a long way to go, it was good tonight to see the subs coming on and giving us a spark. Joe Cardle and Michael Paton came on and did really well. That is why we have a big squad and why we keep pushing and keep on getting results when you see the competition that we have got."
