Allan Johnston felt that his players were "outstanding". He told the media:-
"In the first half I thought that we passed the ball really really well. We score a couple of great goals, obviously Nicky (Clark) will take the headlines. He had some fantastic finishes but I think as a team they played really well.
"Michael Moffat and Nicky Clark were a good partnership and we looked solid at the back as well. You always have a threat from the wide players that we have got as well.
"We are playing well just now and we just have to make sure that we continue that between. Ow and the end of the season. It is a massive couple of games coming up and we have to keep on trying to catch the teams up above us. When you put in performances like that it spreads a lot of confidence."
The manager was delighted that Clark had made such an impact against Dumbarton and claimed that was just what he brought the former Rangers player to East End Park to do:
"Goalscorers are hard to find and he is a natural goalscorer. He has got god movement in the box and three of his goals were from headers. I don`t think I have ever scored three goals from headers. They were really good finishes.
"Michael Moffat with the cross for the first one found Nicky in the right place at the right time and he finished it really well. Some of the finishes were different class and for me the pick of the bunch was the fourth one. His touch, his turn and hitting it really quick to finish it off.
"Sean Murdoch had a couple of important saves at important times to show how vital he is to us as well."
The Pars could possibly have scored more:-
"That was the criticism at half time. Sometimes instead of shooting we tried to play the perfcect pass it but I suppose you cannot complain when you score five."
After the second Dunfermline goals went in there was an altercation between two Dumbarton players.
"I don`t think the referee has seen it or else it would have been a sending off. We just have to focus on ourselves, we have a massive game against Queen of the South, it is important that we recover well. A couple of boys picked up little niggles. Hopefully they will be okay for Tuesday."
