Kallum Higginbotham predicts Easter Road comeback can set Pars up for a run of results

Kallum Higginbotham`s goal just 27 seconds into the second half at Easter Road on Saturday evening completed a fantastic Pars revival. Two down within 25 minutes many feared the worst for Kallum and his team mates but in the end they left disappointed not to have taken all three points from their match away to the league leaders. Higgy told the media:-

"I was delighted with my finish and it came at a great time as well. That gave us the kick we needed at the beginning of the second half. At two-nil down you would have taken a point but when we got back level, we had three or four great chances. Their keeper had a fantastic game and we’re coming away disappointed that we’ve not won. Whatever way you look at it, it’s a great point in the end."

Kallum said that his side had set out to weather a storm in the first twenty minutes but after going two behind feared the outcome was heading for a bit of a doing:-

"You’re thinking that you come here and shut up shop for 20 minutes but we lost the first one after five minutes. We got a goal soon after they scored their second, which was a blessing. For the rest of the first half I thought we were on top and we were miles better in the second half."

Hibs tired as the match went on, their manager, Neil Lennon described them as "running on fumes" but it did looked as though the Hibs players had looked flat out on their feet. Kallum speculated:-

"Midweek would have taken a lot out of them, especially in the mind as well. It was such an adrenalin game and it does sap your body. We came here knowing that and I think we took advantage of that as well."

Lennon admitted that his team had tired badly in the second half but also claimed that they should only have been playing against ten men. It was Kallum that Lennon felt lucky to say on. The 27 year old who joined Dunfermline in July disputed that saying:-

"That’s his opinion. I thought I was unlucky to get the yellow card to be honest with you, I’ve not touched the boy. He’s done me from behind and I jump up, I’m not a player that’s going to be rolling about the pitch.

"That’s not my style, I get up and there’s a huddle and he just says that he needs to pick someone, and I was the unlucky one to get a yellow card. I think it’s a shocking rule to be honest, I’ve done absolutely nothing and I’ve got a yellow card, which could be vital at the end of the season. I might end up missing a game."

Dunfermline have a run of four, of what many might consider winnable, games ahead of meeting Morton at the end of March. The Pars goalscorer reckons that a sequence of wins is important as Dumbarton, Queen of the South, St Mirren and Ayr United provide the opposition:-

"We’ve got to go on that run that we start picking up runs. Okay we’re on a run of one defeat in 14 but there’s a lot of draws in there as well. When you string together a couple of wins together it pushes you right up the table and we’ll go into this period now full of confidence.

"We’ve just come off the back of a really hard run against Falkirk, Dundee United and Hibs, and the two Scottish Cup games. We’re over that hard period now and we can go into this next period with confidence."
