Manager Allan Johnston branded his team`s performance against Falkirk as the poorest of the season. He told the media:-
"We didn`t deserve anything from the game, it was probably one of our poorest performances of the season. We struggled to cope with the physical presence of Lee Miller upfront and John Baird.
"They seemed to pick up the majority of second balls which is very unlike us and we never got going at all.
"It was a bad day at the office and after the run that we have been on we are disappointed because it was a massive game. We wanted to put on a really good performance and get a good result but we never got up to the standards we have set so far.
"We just have to bounce back, there are a lot of games left. It is frustrating when you have been playing so well to put on a performance like that especially against your rivals."
The aim would be to start another unbeaten run and the manager added "you have the bounce back, it is how you respond to that. Unfortunately you cannot win every game, we would love to try and do that but it is how you react to a defeat and a performance like that.
"You have to make sure that you react in the right way and we start to get back on track and pick up the wins we need."
Falkirk manager Peter Houston described his side`s win as "fairly comprehensive" and thought that they should maybe have scored more.
"We missed chances where we should have scored but ask me before the game if we would take three points and a clean sheet, I`d take it.
"Last week we were terrific, I thought the team performance at St Mirren was terrific. I have been saying it all season, we have been building on that performance. I thought today our shape was good again, we statered the game well and know the importance of the Derby match to the supporters as well.
"I think we went about our game the right way. I don`t think Dunfermline troubled us too much and my only disappointment, if there is any, was the fact that we could have scored more goals and we never. It took quite a while to get that second killer goal.
"At 1-0 you are always on edge and concerned. The important thing about coming in 1-0 ahead at half time is to make sure that in the first fifteen minutes of the second half you do not allow Dunfermline back into it. I don`t think we did really and we just kept at it."
