Big game beckons for big Nat

Wedderburn out to make up for missed opportunities

Nat Wedderburn missed out on the first two fixtures against Falkirk this season but he is looking forward to playing a part in Saturday`s derby against Falkirk. He told the media:-

"I am looking forward to playing them. You just want to be involved, you don`t want to be missing the big games so hopefully I will be involved at the weekend."

The six foot three Englishman does not yet consider his Dunfermline career as satisfactory, he called it:-

"Not too great, I have not played as many games as I would have liked. Obviously being injured at the start of the season when you have just signed for the club is frustrating. Then getting in and then getting suspended is difficult."

Nat was injured in just his third Dunfermline start and did not play at all in August or September. Then suspension meant he missed out in matches in November as well. Despite that he has been deployed in a defensive midfield capacity most times when available. He recalled his first games against Dunfermline when a Cowdenbeath player:-

"I have played there a lot throughout my career, I don`t mind as long as I am playing. I played in both the play off games there and here. I think in both those games I played centre back or left of a three."

His defensive role makes it hard to add to his career total of three goals. These were all at Cowdenbeath and the first just 15 minutes into his debut against Dunfermline. Last Saturday against Dundee United Nat came close to scoring his first Pars goal. He connected well to power a shot on target

"I think Nicky Clark got in the way to be fair, he said after the game that he blocked it. It was on target anyway.

"The game on Saturday is a big game. It is a Derby and they are six points ahead of us and we need to narrow the gap.

"We have a problem with the number of draws we have had, especially at home which is frustrating. It will be a big result if we can go there and win.

"We have gone eleven games undefeated, some of the draws have been good but especially at home you want to turn those draws into wins.

"The boys will enjoy the atmosphere at the weekend and like the last time, we will have a good following. They are fighting for a play off place as well so I`m sure there will be a good atmosphere." Nat concluded with positive reference to the artificial surface at the Falkirk Stadium:-

"Falkirk`s is one of the better Astros so it should be a good game. With the players that we have got and the way we like to play, the quality of pitch probably suits us to get our passing game going."
