Pars gaffer Allan Johnston felt that a 1-1 draw with Dundee United was a `fair result`

"We had loads of chances, they had chances as well. I think they scored with their first attack, we were probably the more dominant team at the start of the game. They break and score a really good goal - Andreu hit it really quickly, it is as a great finish.

"I thought the boys responded really well, bounced back and obviously got themselves back into the game. The second half could have gone either way, especially towards the end. It was one of those games that was end to end with loads of chances."

Dunfermline had a chance to score before Dundee United took their 18th minute lead but Michael Moffat tried to place the ball when a blast might have denied William Edjenquele the chance to stop his shot.

"It was a massive chance, a great ball from Nicky (Clark). I don`t think it was really Moff`s fault, he hit it well enough it was just a wee bit of fortune on their part that the defender just got his body in the way of the shot. It was a big chance but sometimes as well.

"We have a massive month coming up against all the top teams - Falkirk, Morton, Hibs and obviously Hamilton in the cup as well. We know that it going to be really tough but you can see from the level of performance that the boys have upped their game and they are looking forward to the challenge ahead."

The equaliser from John Herron was the 22 year olds first goal for Dunfermline and he made quite a point in his celebration. Sandy Clark had been getting on at him for not opening his account and the former Celtic youth was pleased to have the opportunity to emphasise his success.

"He has been taking a bit of stick for his finishing. Obviously he celebrated with Sandy when he showed how good he was at finishing. He is a talented player, you can see that with his passing but he probably needs to add goals to his game. He has been a big plus for us since he came to the club."

The manager introduced subs Joe Cardle, Gavin Reilly and then David Hopkirk ten minutes from the end. He commented:-

"I thought the boys did well when they came on, they made an impact. Hoppy had a chance and was really unlucky when he came inside, the keeper read it. Joe is capable of getting a goal as well. Gav had a chance as well, that is what you are asking your subs that do."

At the end it was Sean Murdoch who was awarded the Man of the Match award and there was little doubt that he had earned that with tremendous saves in both halves.

"It was an unbelievable save from the free kick. I don`t think it was a free kick in the first place but he has managed to claw it out of the top corner. You expect that of Sean."
