‘Fan of the Year’ Award for Margaret Ross
Tuesday, 17th Jan 2017It was announced recently that Margaret Ross had been posthumously named the "Fan of the Year" as part of the inaugural Scottish Football Supporters Association Fans Awards.
Whilst Margaret`s sudden and unexpected passing is still fresh in all of our minds, we can perhaps take some comfort in that her tireless efforts for the Club, PST and wider Pars family have been recognised in such a way.
We are only now beginning to get a real understanding of just how much Margaret did for our Club, as a founder member of the PST, as a driving force of the "Save The Pars` movement, and since her appointment to the Board of Directors of the Football Club.
But as well as that, she was still a fan, just like all of us. Whether it was to see the Pars home or away, watching the Under 20s, or following Scotland as a dedicated member of the Tartan Army, Margaret just loved football, and everything that went with it.
Every football Club needs somebody like Margaret Ross - we were blessed to have had the original. She is quite simply, irreplaceable, but thankfully, we can count her as "being one of our own".
Saturday’s presentation party was made up of representatives from the various groups Margaret was associated with. Left to right: Roy Barry (Former Players Association), Eric Spreng (1885 Business Club), Tom Malcolmson (Margaret’s partner), Donald Adamson (Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust), Paul Goodwin (SFSA) and John Burt (Pars Supporters’ Trust).
