Allan Johnston felt that Saturday`s game against St Mirren is one that his side should have won:-

"It is disappointing to drop two points especially with the chances that we created. You have got to make sure that we finish them off. It just wasn`t our day.

"We are disappointed with the goal we lost, it was a good block, something they have worked on in the training ground and we just got caught just after half time.

"Even after that I thought the boys responded really well and we should have put the game out of site."

There were many good chances that the manager agreed should have earned his team a goal and the three points. None were any better than Michael Moffat`s eight minutes into the second half:-

"It took a horrible bobble, it was two yards out from an open goal and it has just bounced up. He was really unfortunate. The groundsmen have worked really hard to get the game on so I cannot really complain too much."

Unbeaten in nine matches now, Allan Johnston agreed that the momentum is still there but this was the kind of game that Dunfermline need to win:-

"Especially when you are so much on top. I don`t think St Mirren caused us many problems from open play. At setpieces you can see that with the height they have got they are really dangerous. We are disappointed but we did keep the unbeaten run going.

"There are no easy games, St Mirren are scrapping for their lives down the bottom of the league and they have brought in a lot of good players. We knew that it was going to be a difficult task but we should have won the game with the chances created and balance of play."

The result means that the Pars go above Raith in the Championship but the manager warned that there is a long way to go yet in the 2016-2017 season:-

"There is a long way to go but it is about consistency. The boys have shown that over the last couple of months. We just have to continue that type of form. You can see the bench that we have got is very strong and I am sure that will help us going forward for the rest of the season."

Was Kallum Higginbotham always going to be taking a penalty if awarded?

"I don`t think anybody was going to get the ball off him. He was first man to grab it. Higgy is that type of character, he showed a lot of bottle to step up after missing the last one so it was great for him to get the goal and I think he was desperately unlucky on a couple of other occasions with shots from great play.

"Look at Paul McMullan as well, he had a couple of penalty shots as well from where we were. I don`t know how it looked for you guys but I think Irvine was lucky to stay on the pitch."
