Geggs loves his Ayr strikes
Sunday, 8th Jan 2017"I don`t know how it happens but I score in the majority of games here. It must be a psychological thing."
After one season at Ayr United, Andy Geggan signed for Dunfermline Athletic. That was in June 2012 and in the nine games when he has returned to Somerset Park with his new club he has scored four goals. Speaking after the match, Andy commented:-
"I loved my year here but obviously I like coming back. To score a goal like that makes it a lot more special."
The 29 year old fired home Dunfermline`s second goal on Saturday and quickly changed his mind on how he was going to react in front of his old fans.
"I wasn`t going to celebrate but I had to celebrate that one. I took it sweet to be fair. I just hit it and didn`t even know where it went. I set myself up and just delighted to get the goal. I went to the front post and tried to flick it on. Luckily somebody shouted `Geggs get up` and I just got up and hit it into the top corner.
"I don`t know how it happens but I score in the majority of games here. It must be a psychological thing."
Andy scored four goals in the first three matches of this season but since dropping back to the right back role he had hit a goals famine. Saturday`s strike was pleasing but he claimed that was not the top priority.
"I don`t mind as long as we are winning and get the three points on the board. Long may it continue. St Mirren next week is a massive game for us and we will just take it week by week and see how it all goes. We are on a great run just now.
"Throughout the whole game I never felt Ayr were going to score. The back four was superb and solid."
After stretching their unbeaten run to eight matches, the Pars will be favourites to win at home next Saturday when bottom of the table St Mirren are the visitors:-
"The confidence is high and the boys are flying in training. It makes your week better."
