William Hill Scottish Cup: The sides have only played each other once before, in the Scottish Cup during the 1979-80 season ...

This Saturday the William Hill Scottish Cup takes Dunfermline the 170 miles to Victoria Park, Buckie. There they will play the Highland leaders, Buckie Thistle, a side that has scored 79 goals in just 17 league matches.

Striker John McLeod is the Highland League`s top goalscorer with 32 goals and team mate Chris Angus is also a threat with 16 goals so far this season.

Buckie sit top of the Highland League on goal difference, sharing the same points tally with Brora Rangers. Fresh from their first away win in the league against St Mirren, the Championship side will be favourites but that means very little for everyone knows the underdog can cause upsets in cup contests.

Previous meetings reveal just one result. The sides have only played each other once before, in the Scottish Cup during the 1979-80 season when goals by Sandy McNaughton and Mikey Leonard ensured a 2-0 home win for the Pars.

Buckie Thistle`s first-choice kit is identical to that of Celtic`s green and white hoops and local legend has it that Celtic donated "a hamper of shirts and balls" in the early 1900s when the club hit hard times.

Buckie Thistle travelled to Hampden Park to meet Queen`s Park in a Scottish Cup 4th round replay on 30 October 1954, prevailing 2–1 and at the same time becoming the first and, still to this day, the only senior non-league club to have won a competitive match at the national stadium.

On 20 April 2008, former Aberdeen, Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers and Scotland international Striker Duncan Shearer was sacked as manager of Buckie Thistle. Shearer was sacked just one day after a home defeat to Cove Rangers.
