Decisions leave Rhys reeling

Rhys McCabe started ten of the Pars opening eleven fixtures but Saturday`s selection to play against Dundee United was the first time he has been in the line up since mid October. Rhys was disappointed to see the Pars dumped out of the Irn Bru Cup but felt that the breaks just didn`t go Dunfermline`s way:-

"It just our luck at the minute. When things are not going well for you, these wee breaks that maybe go for you when you are playing well, are obviously not happening. The spirit is still there and you can see that in the performance, showing that bit of character when down to ten men. We need to play football and do the right things."

The 23 year old midfielder felt that the red card decision against Lewis Martin 12 minutes into the second half was harsh:-

"I have not seen it back but I was in front of Lewis when he made the challenge. I think if he was closer to the goal it was a definite red, but I think he (Blair Spittal) still had forty yards to run. Lee Ashworth was on the way back and he was covering him. I don`t know whether he would have got there or not, it is hard to tell.

"I felt a bit hard done by for Lewis because with forty yards to go there was plenty of time and he still had plenty to do."

Asked about the late incident when Farid went over on the edge of the box, Rhys replied:-

"Whether it is a penalty or not, when he has pulled Farid, in any other position on the pitch it would have been given nine times out of ten. Whether it is a penalty, free kick or not, it was a definite foul and we have seen that back. Farid is an honest man, he has no reason to lie. You can clearly see that he is pulled down after doing well to pin him in.

"I don`t know about the rest of the boys but I feel gutted because we have met Dundee United three times, they gave us a lesson in the first game, and we wanted to rectify that on Tuesday.

"When we went down to ten men, we still had the boys` passion and even the style of football. Still trying to pass the ball, get the ball wide and get crosses into the box for the strikers. I think we have them service, it was the breaks that come and go when you are playing well and getting results but on another day you put crosses in and they score three headers."
