Managers post Irn Bru Cup tie

Allan Johnston was disappointed to be knocked out of the Irn Bru Cup by Dundee United and felt that his side had made it difficult for themselves right from the start.
"We lost a soft goal from a corner, it took a ricochet and you have to be alive to the second balls. We knew that they had a lot of height in their team and obviously we had a couple of big players missing but we should have dealt with it better.
"The boys responded well in the second half after going down to ten men. It was a really soft sending off, he still had a long way to go and it looked as though Lee Ashcroft was getting back. I am disappointed that the sending off was given in the first place.
"Especially after playing on Tuesday night with ten men too, we responded really well, kept on going and looked as though we might nick a goal."
The incident at the end when Coll Donaldson pulled over Farid El Alagui should have given the Pars an opportunity to snatch a late equaliser, the manager continued:-
"It looks like we should have had a free kick or a penalty at the end but I have not seen it again on the television but I think everybody in the stadium saw it, it was just the referee who disagreed with it."
Allan Johnston was asked how worried he was about his team`s continuing lack of success:-
"It is always a concern but we need to concentrate on the next games coming up, we need to start winning games, picking up points and putting a run together to get ourselves up the table. It would have been a bonus getting to the next round but it wasn`t to be. Now we have to focus on the league."
Nat Wedderburn is already suspended for the next Championship match and there will be a wait to see what the consequences of the Irn Bru Cup straight red shown to Lewis Martin. No matter what AJ is confident he has the resources required to go to Paisley for next Saturday`s teatime fixture against foot of the table St Mirren.
"It is not ideal but we have a big squad and people capable of coming in to fill these positions. Disappointing because there are massive games coming up."
