Kallum craves to create

"We just have to pick ourselves up and, sooner or later, we will come good."

Following the sending off of Nat Wedderburn six minutes before half time, Pars midfielder Kallum Higginbotham felt that with ten men it was backs to the wall against Dundee United. He said:-

"The boys defended superbly. If they had scored from open play or a wonder strike from 30 yards, you say well done but to concede the way we did is frustrating. I thought that we deserved at least a point for the defending we put in.

"It is always tough going to Tannadice at the best of times, eleven v eleven but when you go down to ten men it just makes the job a whole lot harder.

"We came away with nothing. There are positives that we can take, I feel that we are moving massive strides forward in terms of shape, in terms of hard work and determination not to concede sloppy goals but we need to start picking up results.

"We are second bottom now but if we keep playing like we are playing with the quality that we have in the dressing room then, they say it evens itself up in football, I am just waiting for that to happen."

Kallum claims that the lack of wins in the Championship is an increasing concern:-

"When you don`t win a couple of games you think it is going to turn and we will get out of it, but the longer it goes on then you start to realise that we are going to have to dig deep.

"There are no easy games in this league. The last couple of weeks the fans have seen that and the reception that they have given is at the end of the game is fantastic. They follow us in their numbers, we just want to repay them. That is what we do the job for and the fans deserve a lot better than they are getting at the moment.

"Especially against Dumbarton and Raith Rovers we should have come away with the points. There is no point in saying `we should have come away with the points`, we have to come away with the points."

Now after three defeats out of three against Ray McKinnon`s United, Kallum and his teammates get another shot at then in Saturday`s Irn Bru Cup tie at East End Park:-

"We will keep working hard, there is a massive game again on Saturday against Dundee United and it is a chance for us to get one over them. Next week at St Mirren is absolutely massive but even though we lost at Tannadice, we must carry on this momentum.

"We go again and we can`t keep feeling sorry for ourselves, it is the nature of the game. We just have to pick ourselves up and, sooner or later, we will come good."

Kallum has assumed a bit of a roving role at times in matches lately and he admitted that his manager has been reminding him that he should be on the right, he continued:-

"Especially against Dumbarton I thought it was just waves of attack. Our equaliser came from me switching wings and playing it back to Jason Talbot but I know what my position is.

"I need to stick to it which I thought I did quite well against Raith but that is the sort of player that I am. I always want to get on the ball and if it is not coming down my side I always go searching for it. The gaffer doesn`t encourage me to keep wandering over there but it is something that I have always done in my career.

"I thought I did a lot better against Raith and the odd time against Dundee United I went over but that was just trying to get on the ball, trying to get us up the pitch and try to create something.

"It was backs against the wall for quite some time and it is tough when it is like that. You always want to break and try and win the game, we are not sitting there trying to get a point. I was just trying to make things happen."
