Pars need to become more streetwise
Monday, 31st Oct 2016Nicky Clark expresses the frustrations of the Dunfermline players
Goalscorer Nicky Clark felt the draw at Dumbarton on Saturday was another frustrating match for his team.
"I thought we played a lot better in the second half. We knew ourselves that the first half was just not good enough but we came back into it in the second half with a good performance. Just like our season so far, we gave away sloppy goals.
"We need to stop doing that to get pushing up this league. We said at half time that we needed a wee spark from somewhere, Joe Cardle came on and did really well, obviously he got the goal as well.
"Given the position we are in the league, we needed to come down here to Dumbarton and get three points. We got the draw but everybody in that dressing room is disappointed but it is down to us to pick it up and it is only us who can do it.
"We need to stick together, I`m sure we will, and I am sure that the results will start turning soon. It is easy saying that we have a really good squad but we need to go out there prove it on a Saturday. Just now we are not really doing that, myself included in that, so we will work hard again on Monday and make sure that we prepare for next Saturday.
"It was good to get a goal and hopefully we can kick on from there. The second goal I thought was going in but Joe Cardle was in a good position for a tap in. To go 2-1 up with nine minutes to go we need to be a bit more street wise as a team to see the game out but we never.
"I had a chance towards the end of the game, I maybe should have done better but that`s football you score some and you miss some.
"We will watch it over on Monday, work on that at the start of the week and start preparing for Saturday when hopefully we can take three points."
