Allan Johnston felt that Queens Park made the first half of the Irn Bru cup a frustrating game for his team:-
"It would be a frustrating game to watch as well I`d imagine. They had their whole team parked behind the ball and just trying to hit you on the counter.
"It made it really difficult so at half time we changed it and brought Farid on. He gives us that wee bit of physical presence up front especially when teams are sitting in. You could see the difference he made getting the goal.
"Gus` teams are always well organised and hard to beat. To be fair to them, especially towards the end when they pushed people forward they competed really well.
"I didn`t want to mention Farid scoring at the other end. I have seen it again. Two of our boys have actually challenged for it and I think it has just hit him.
"He did really well though and used his physical presence upfront holding the ball in and he is a threat in the air when crosses are coming in. We were unlucky not to score a couple more goals but Queens Park pushed us all the way as well."
Does Farid get to keep the match ball for scoring three goals - two for Dunfermline and one for Queens Park?
"I don`t think that counts! The most important thing was getting the result. We can obviously pass the ball better especially better than we did in the first half. We were a bit too slow and laboured. In the second half we mixed up our game and we caused them problems.
"We probably made it a wee bit more difficult than we should have. Losing that goal gave Queens Park something to hold on to."
With Farid scoring three Dunfermline goals in the last two games is he staking a claim for a place in the starting eleven?
"Oh definitely, he is pushing them all the way. That is what I have said, we have a strong squad, look at the players who weren`t playing. Higginbotham came on and did really well in the middle of the park. He had that wee bit of composure. I am sure that will push us on for the rest of the season."
The rest of the season will now include the quarter finals of the Irn Bru Cup and the possibility of a trip to Wales subject to the cup draw on Monday. Did the manager fancy that?
"Not really, I have not looked at the rest of the results. We just have to concentrate on ourselves, it is good to get another win and hopefully we can build on that next week when we have a massive game against Falkirk. It is one we will look forward to."
Your hands off John Potter warning to St Mirren worked?
"We didn`t want to lose Potts, he is an important part of the back room staff and he is a great lad as well. You can see how much the young boys have progressed under Pottsie as well. We didn`t want him to leave, I think there was interest but I think he wanted to stay."
