Martin ready for Mirren
Friday, 23rd Sep 2016"Hopefully we play well on Saturday and they are behind us again and get a result."
Twenty year old Lewis Martin has started most first team games for Dunfermline this season at left back but he claimed that he is happy to play anywhere across the back four even though his favoured position is centre back.
"As long as I am playing I don`t really mind. We have not been winning games and conceding quite a lot but most of the goals have just come from our mistakes. It is not like we are being cut open we just need to try and cut out those mistakes.
"We are working hard on even if somebody makes a mistake somebody else will help you out. Maybe we have not done that so far but hopefully we can get it right for Saturday.
"We need to work better as a team. Against Morton we did not play as good as we can, didn`t pass the ball as well as we could and that is what we are good at. We need to get back to that on Saturday."
Lewis is aware that opponents St Mirren could get a lift with Allan McManus taking temporary charge of the Saints. When Lewis was at Rangers as a youth Saints Jack Baird partnered him in central defence. He had also played alongside Tom Walsh, Lewis Morgan and at Dunfermline with Lawrence Shankland.
"They are all good players and we need to play as good as we can to get a result."
The players concentrate on what is happening on the park but Lewis said that the backing of the home fans has been greatly appreciated.
"Even if we are getting beat and if we make a mistake, they encourage us. Hopefully we play well on Saturday and they are behind us again and get a result."
The 5.15pm kick off to accommodate BBC Alba, means that Lewis and his team mates will need to alter their pre match preparations.
"We will probably be in about half past three, it is different. Last time on live television we lost to Airdrie but before that we did well at Stranraer. We battered them and hopefully this time we can get a result again."
