Murdoch ready after Jags test

"I will make myself available and it is down to the manager if he chooses to select me."

Sean Murdoch returned from injury in the Development League match at home to Partick Thistle on Monday night. The 30 year old goalkeeper came through his first competitive match of the season and told this website that he felt that he was ready for first team action if selected.

"It was good to be back on the pitch. It was a competitive game, tough and like a normal game but with no atmosphere. That was really all that was different. I enjoyed it, I feel really sharp and I feel good."

Sean admitted to still having a little pain in his wrist and explained the nature of the problem:-

"Two months ago I decided to take time out to try and get the bone to heal. It is the lunate bone that has broken away that is causing the pain. It can`t be operated on, it is something that I probably will have for the rest of my life but it is much more manageable and doesn`t restrict me in any way."

Sean praised Partick`s Development side for giving him such a thorough testing:-

"They were good, they popped the ball about well, their work rate was immense. It was an even game that could have gone either way but they won the game and obviously we are disappointed. I am sure the young boys will take that on into the next game and make sure they get a victory next time."

No keeper likes to concede a goal and he felt that what turned out to be the deciding goal was a poor one on Dunfermline`s part.

"It was such a bad goal to lose. I always say this and it is the same in the first team, we need to make sure that we don`t lose goals. Even if we draw 0-0 it is a point. I am sure that Potts will go over it with the boys so they don`t do it again."

The winner struck by Calum Wilson four minutes from half time only just got the better of Sean, he described how close he came to stopping it:-

"It took a deflection and I was just unlucky. I just about stopped it. It is unfortunate, it could have gone anywhere but it just spun back up and into the net.

"They had a lot of shots but there were not too many on target in the second half. First half they had a few shots and a number of crosses. I was happy with them, happy with my kicking. I would have liked more shots but that`s just the way it goes.

"My positional sense and free kicks are what I really had to get my head round. When you have been out for two months it is difficult to come straight into a first team game.

"I am available, I am fit if selected on Saturday. I will make myself available and it is down to the manager if he chooses to select me."
