Pars go to Paton`s Place

Michael Paton is the Dunfermline player with the furthest to travel to training but this Saturday he could walk to the away game at Cappielow since he lives only a five minute walk away.
He told the website that he never really had any aspirations to play for his hometown team so he will be quite comfortable if he can add to his goalscoring account. The 27 year old who joined Dunfermline 15 months ago was the only Pars player to take any of the ample opportunities against Dundee United last Saturday. He called it a crazy game and explained how he didn`t take any of the three first half penalties awarded:-
"I am confident taking penalties, it is just when somebody grabs the ball and is confident, why make a scene? I said that I wanted to take it but the boys who had the ball were confident and you don`t want to make a scene on the park. Just go and do the job.
"When Gav (Reilly) missed the first one you expected Nicky (Clark) to step up. When he missed it it was a free for all after that but Paul (McMullan) got the ball first. He was confident so I just let him. If I had the ball I would have taken one."
The Pars dead ball specialist who takes free kicks and corners praised Dundee United keeper Cammy Bell for saving Gavin Reilly`s effort:-
"It was a really good save. It was the best save of them all. Gav had pace on the penalty but he put his arm up and it spun away from goal. If that had been a penalty against us it would have spun off the keeper and into the net.
"All the teams at the top of the league have had luck but they work for their luck. I think in the last three games we have been unlucky. We did really well against Hibs but we are having to work really hard for our goals while we are making mistakes and giving goals away. Performance wise we are getting there and are not far off it. Once we gel and get the first comfortable win under our belts then I think we will kick on."
Michael`s goal against Dundee United was his first of the season and he had joked with his team mates last weekend - "I know I don`t score many goals but will I use one of my goals today or will I keep it?
"Hopefully I can kick on and get a lot more than last season. The manager has said to me that I am getting in a lot more dangerous positions. That`s how I got my goal on Saturday and another one fell to me and I got another shot at goal. If I can keep getting into those type of positions I will score a few goals this season."
The player missed pre season training since he had to have a hernia operation, he gave an update on how he now feels :-
"In the last twenty minutes of the game I am feeling a bit laggy but I am getting there. The fitness comes with short sharp training and constantly playing. If I am selected for the next two or three games that should take me right up to scratch and I could do a full 90."
Every game is as tough as the next is Michael Paton`s assessment of the Ladbrokes Championship. Morton are level on points with the Pars and are sure to up their game against the Fifers since despite being the newcomers, they are still seen as a `big` club.
"It is a great park, we will bring a big crowd and there will be a great atmosphere. It will be another tough game but if we take the performance from Saturday down to Morton this Saturday, we will be hard to beat."
Michael is unbeaten in all four games played for Queen of the South against Morton but with only a handful of the players remaining from their promotion season when they defeated the Pars in all four meetings, it is a different Morton team that Dunfermline will face this Saturday.
