McMullan off the mark

Sunday, 4th Sep 2016

"I just want to be out there playing and showing everybody what I can do

Paul McMullan claims that the Dunfermline players can`t wait for the next game now which will be at home to Dundee United on Saturday:-

"To win and get back to winning ways was always important. Having won 5-1 we can`t wait to go, hopefully we can take this form into the league and start pushing up the league.

"We started really well although obviously their goal set us back a bit but in the second half we were excellent. The early goal settled everybody down, let everybody get on the ball and there is no rush to score again. That definitely helped us.

For Paul his 49th minute goal against Brechin City was perfectly placed for first first goal for the club, he continued:-

"Rhys McCabe picked me out well and I just played the finish which is always important. I think it will be one of those ones that looks better than what it was."

Paul who signed on 4th July this year feels that he has settled in well at Dunfermline. The former Celtic youth found himself loaned out to Stenhousemuir, St Mirren and Morton so he is a man of many clubs.

"The boys are great, it has just been a wee bit frustrating not playing as much as I wanted. I just want to be out there playing and showing everybody what I can do, that is important.

"I have had a few more clubs than some of the older boys here but it stands you in good stead. I learned a lot of things from different managers and took different things from each one of them. I can only say that it makes me a better player and that is the way I see it."

Paul`s former Celtic team mate John Herron has joined Dunfermline on loan this week. John captained the Celtic youth team that defeated Dunfermline in the 2013 SFA Youth Cup final and further squad strengthening came in the shape of Nicky Clark who returned to Scotland after a brief period at Bury. Paul sees all this as a good thing:-

"Competition is healthy for everybody. You are always looking over your shoulder thinking you need to play well to stay in the team. That is what every professional wants and that is what we have here."
