Nicky a proud East Ender!
Thursday, 1st Sep 2016Nicky Clark yesterday penned a two-year deal with Dunfermline Athletic and spoke exclusively to us today.
“Obviously I’ve worked with the gaffer and my dad before so l know what they’re all about, when l had the chance to come here l was buzzing to take it.
It’s all happened really quick to be honest, l moved down south in the Summer to Bury but it didn’t really work out the way l had hoped. So it was great to get the chance to sign for Dunfermline.
Nicky played under Allan Johnston and dad, Sandy previously at Queen of the South and said he was also familiar with a few faces in the East End Park dressing room. “I know Gavin Reilly and Michael Paton from my time at Queen of the South, but l also got to know a lot of the other boys last season when l was coming along to some games. It’s a good dressing room, all the boys are great.”
Dad and current assistant manager, Sandy was first with the club as a player in the late 80’s and then as a coach in 2003. “I know the club well. my dad was here before so l know the fans here create a great atmosphere here at East End Park, but it’s down to us on the park ultimately.”
Having previously played for Rangers in the Ladbrokes Championship, Nicky is well aware of the competitiveness of the league. “I had a great time at Rangers, l know what the Championship’s all about, so hopefully l can score a few goals and get the club back up the league.”
With a trip to Brechin City approaching this Saturday in the Irn-Bru Cup, Nicky is keen to play a role right away: “I want to be in the team scoring goals, but it’s down to me to prove today and tomorrow in training that i’m ready, hopefully I’m picked on Saturday.”
