Raith Rovers v DAFC - Be the 12th man!

Monday, 15th Aug 2016

Be our 12th Man again at Starks Park on Saturday!

On Saturday at Easter Road, the Pars supporters were absolutely fantastic and backed the team magnificently for the full 90 minutes, and were rightly recognised in the national media for contributing to a superb atmosphere at Easter Road along with the large home support, at Scotland’s biggest attendance of the day.

This coming Saturday we face another difficult trip to local rivals, Raith Rovers who sit top of the league after winning their first two matches. We have not had the easiest of starts to our return to the Championship, but these are undoubtedly the games we all relish.

Attending two away football matches in consecutive weeks, can be an expensive exercise so the DAFC Board would like to thank all of the supporters who made the trip to Edinburgh on Saturday, and where possible we would love to have as many Pars supporters as possible at Starks Park on Saturday, to cheer the team on and act once again as our 12th man! Retaining momentum at the start of the season is always vital, so we want to build on the positive performances against Dumbarton and Hibernian.

Please note the match against Raith Rovers is all ticket, so tickets must be purchased in advance of the match.

These are now available from the DAFC ticket office all of this week. DAFC Shop will be open the following hours

10am to 4pm Wednesday 17/8/16
10am to 6.30pm Thursday 18/8/16
10am to 4pm Friday 19/8/16
10am to 12noon Saturday 20/8/16

The tickets are priced as follows: Adults £20. Concessions £10.

Manager, Allan Johnston commented “the support we took to Easter Road on Saturday was unbelievable, and really provided the players with inspiration on the day. We were all gutted that bad luck cruelly prevented us taking something from the game, to reward the fans. The boys would love to see a large Pars support packing the away stand at Starks Park on Saturday, to again be our 12th man against the league leaders. I have been told about the local derbies and the backing we will receive, so everyone in the playing staff is already looking forward to Saturday.”

Chairman, Ross McArthur stated “like Allan I thought the Pars support on Saturday was outstanding and it would be great to see a huge travelling support at Kirkcaldy to again cheer the team on. Everyone will remember our last trip to Starks Park, as we all feared we were verging on the point of oblivion and the widespread hopelessness that we all experienced.

I too sat in the away stand that day, along with my family and there was raw emotion all around. Looking back, it is arguably our lowest point as a supporter. However, that is in the past as we all stood together and picked ourselves up of the floor with a never say die attitude and can now look forward with renewed optimism with a talented manager and playing squad, and a wonderfully supportive fan base. Myself and the rest of the Board will not be in the stand behind the goals this time, but we will all be there in spirit as to me it will be a poignant occasion as we return to Raith Rovers for the first time since that dreadful day. Let’s celebrate the fact it will be a more upbeat mood on Saturday, by turning out in numbers to roar the team on!”
