Allan Johnston said that his team was obviously deflated after their 5-1 defeat at home to Inverness:-
"When you look at the majority of the game we actually did well which is so surprising when you see the result. We gifted them goals tonight and there were some wonder finishes.
"The second goal came from the free kick, there was not much you can do about that when he (Iain Vigurs) puts it in the top corner. Whether it was a free kick or not is a wee bit debatable.
"We gifted the first goal to them as well with the slack pass back. Gifts after starting so well but even at 2-1 and 3-1 we were still in the game. We still had great opportunities but what we have got to learn is that when they get a fourth goal you cannot afford just to capitulate. We have got to defend better and obviously got to do better than that in the last 15 to 20 minutes."
Everyone recognised that Dunfermline had begun the game well and the manager felt that his side just didn`t get the breaks.
"It looked as though Joe Cardle got caught for a penalty in the first fifteen minutes. It was a big call from the referee but we didn`t see to get much of the big calls tonight.
"Nat Wedderburn was sick and we have a few boys out but I still think in the first half and the majority of the second half, we played well. So I am disappointed to get a result like that after putting so much effort into the first seventy minutes.
"We are still in the group, it is a massive game on Sunday. We know that it is not going to be easy. Dundee United are a top team especially up there but we just have to make sure that we lift ourselves after a result like that."
